A Change of Direction

I began painting this china cabinet months ago and I thought I had the perfect vision of what it was going to look like somewhere in the creative process I lost the creative direction to finish it.  I let it sit in the shop and I looked at everyday just knowing I would be inspired to finish the cabinet finally one day I entered the shop to open and was inspired to go a completely different direction.  Here is the before picture at the point I lost the inspiration.

The beauty of painting with Chalk Paint® decorative paint by Annie Sloan is you can change directions quickly for this piece I did not sand or remove any of the paint from the first attempt but instead just painted over the first coat.  The paint and color palette work so well together. The finished cabinet in Old Ochre exterior and Duck Egg interior with some beautiful chippy, creamy white china.

The hardware was painted in Old Ochre and waxed.  The edges of the piece are slightly distressed to give it some old world charm.

Seeing the completed piece and adding the “Nest” bunting and creamy, chippy china display makes me smile every time I walk in my shop…of course she is available for purchase and ready to move to her forever home.
