Repurposed Framed Art into a Chalk Board

I found this wonderful framed art piece at one of my favorite thrift stores.  It was love at first sight; the art work was dated but that big, chunky frame made it worth snatching up and it even  had a thrift store price.

I began painting the chalkboard paint over the art work before I remembered to take a before picture.  As you can see this “find” was very dated.  After applying the chalkboard paint to the art work I painted the frame with Old White Chalk Paint® decorative paint by Annie Sloan, applied Annie Sloan Soft Clear Wax, distressed the edges with 220 grit sandpaper and touched up the wax where I had sanded.  I used the same hanging hardware just moved it so the frame would hang vertically instead of horizontally.

Now I just have to wait for the chalkboard paint to cure some before I can write on it.  I am going to use it to post my workshop schedule in the shop.
